Mededeling van SCMI n.a.v. het persbericht van SPI, die het proces van opheffing nu werkelijk is begonnen:

"To all Members of SCMI and friends,

This evening, at an Extraordinary Annual Meeting of SPI, the amendments which SCMI had requested to make in its Articles of Association received the required approval of the SPI meeting. Both Itamar and myself were questioned for some 45 minutes about the implications and ramifications of the changes.  At the end, the SPI decision was unanimous! As SCMI is a Dutch foundation, registered in the Netherlands, everything we do must be fully in accordance with the Dutch laws and regulations, requiring considerable coordination with the Dutch notary H. Beens from Amersfoort, who has assisted us in the preparations of the amendments. We are especially grateful to Mevr. Mr. Ilse Faass-Strooij  in the Notary’s office.

The essence of the change can be summarized in a few words: The candidacy and nominations of new members of the SCMI board of directors (both representatives of organizations and independent directors) will not be appointed anymore by the SPI board but henceforth directly by the Board of Directors of SCMI. If in the future, SCMI wishes to change its Articles of Association, or make changes in it subsidy allocation policies, or wishes to add new member organizations, or wishes to dissolve itself, etc. etc., no prior approval is needed anymore by SPI. From now on SCMI will be a truly “independent” amuta [stichting], fully governed by its Board of Directors representing, of course, the relevant member associations.  

Many devoted members of our community worked very hard to secure this  “disconnect” from SPI and we are grateful to all. This is not the time to provide more details. The implementation of the SPI’s decision in the Netherlands may take a few more weeks. But the effective date is today! We are grateful to SPI – an organization which has served the community of Dutch Holocaust survivors exceptionally well for about two decades. Its activities have now come to an end. Its mission has been completed. The debt we all owe to SPI is enormous.

Since 2003, SCMI has received almost €19 millon to support collective “Maror” projects in Israel and we still hope to receive a further €250,000 in the near future. [In Israeli currency the amount has come to NIS 100,000,000.] SCMI will probably need another 5 years or so to complete its task. A task which essentially should be seen as a privilege – a privilege to be able to contribute towards the improvement of the quality of life and welfare of the still living survivors and their families. Together we’ll do our best to continue to accomplish this undertaking in a most transparent, fair and compassionate way – never forgetting that we are in a way “trustees” of funds that originated NOT from Dutch banks, or government, or  insurance companies, or stock exchanges, but these are some of the moneys belonging to our murdered forefathers, grandparents, father and mothers, aunts and uncles, brothers and sisters which – some 55 years after the war – were “returned” to their rightful heirs and to the communities in Holland and Israel.

Tonight’s “disconnect” from SPI should not be seen as just an administrative matter. It represents a milestone in the historically unprecedented and truly gigantic MAROR undertaking -- made possible by hundreds of devoted members of the Dutch community in Israel. While paying tribute to all those who preceded us in SCMI, I can only assure you that the now “independent” SCMI board will faithfully do what is needed and what can be done for as long as our funds will last.

Aanvullend commentaar van André Boers op de ontwikkelingen van de laatste dagen:

"​De  oprichters van SCMI en SPI waren ​nagenoeg allemaal ​dezelfde personen. De statuten van beide organisaties waren ​​voor een belangrijk deel opgesteld en ondertekend door dezelfde hoofdrolspelers.

SCMI werd in Nederland opgericht en is nog immer een Nederlandse Stichting. Op zich een heel vreemd fenomeen: Stichting Collectieve Maror gelden Israel. 

​De tegenhanger van SCMI in Nederland, de COM, die de collectieve Marorgelden in Nederland verdeelt en toewijst heeft nimmer overwogen een Israelische stichting te worden.....​

​Waarom da​n SCMI een Nederlandse stichting ​moest zijn, kunnen we alleen maar raden. 

In d​ie sowieso vreemde opstelling, waren de leden van SCMI voor het grote merendeel afgevaardigden van de "Nederlandse" amutot in Israel. Zij werden benoemd door de afgevaardigden van de leden van SPI, bijna allemaal afgevaardigden waren van precies dezelfde amutot. Met andere woorden ​bijna elke amuta (stichting) benoemde een afgevaardigde in het bestuur van SPI. En deze deed in het kader van SPI mee aan de goedkeuring van de benoeming van een andere afgevaardigde van zijn eigen stichting in het bestuur van SCMI.

Ook heeft SPI jarenlang projecten ingediend bij SCMI en vele miljoenen ​shekalim ​

ontvangen.

En nu he​eft SPI een eind gemaakt aan deze situatie op de BAV die gehouden werd op 22 januari j.l. De bestuursleden van SCMI worden ​voortaan ​direct benoemd door de aangesloten verenigingen en SCMI mag zelf nog enkele onafhankelijke bestuursleden benoemen.

SCMI is ook af van de statutaire verplichting om kosten van SPI- voor zover niet gedekt uit andere bronnen - te betalen. Ook dat heeft ​SCMI ​in de jaren 2000-2013 gemiddeld NIS 100.000 ​per jaar ​gekost!​

De genezing van deze ​uitermate vreemde situatie komt laat, heel erg laat.

​Maar in ieder geval hebben we ​binnen SPI er ​een eind ​aan ​gemaakt​. SCMI staat van nu af aan geheel op eigen benen.
